1 Thessalonians 4:11 NIV ~ 11 and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you,
This is in the bible…I can’t make this stuff up!!
Minding My Own Business…OnPurpose!!
How can we know if we are living our calling? Read one or more of the following accounts of Scripture to discover how Joseph, Moses, Nehemiah, Esther, Jonah and Jesus received their callings from God.
From these passages, you will see that God often uses other people to communicate with us about our call. Events or circumstances are used to guide us in the discovery of our purpose. Our preparation may guide us toward our designated purpose at a particular time. Timing may also include the combination of several factors coming together for the fulfillment of God’s purposes. For example:
• People – God used Mordecai to communicate his call to Esther.
• Significant Events – God used the Burning Bush to get Moses’ attention.
• Preparation – Joseph’s gifts were revealed after months of imprisonment.
• Timing – Nehemiah prayed, fasted and reflected 4 months (Kislev to Nisan) before communicating with the King about his calling.
Answer the CALL…OnPurpose!!
The Word of God illuminates our identity as God’s beloved children. The Psalmist delares that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14 ). Furthermore, we are made in the image of God (Genesis 1:26) and we are uniquely designed to be in relationship with Him. As “God’s workmanship, (we are) created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”(Ephesians 2:10). By understanding our value as a child of God (Romans 8:16), our desire grows to respond to our calling to be fellow workers to serve His purposes on earth and as co-heirs with Christ in our future. (Roman 8:17)
Our lives are about God; they are not about us. Let me share with you our Primary and Secondary Calling:
1. Our primary calling is to BE in relationship with God, through the saving knowledge of His Son Jesus Christ.
2. Our secondary callings are to use our gifts and talents in God’s service and to His glory in playing the many life roles we are given – child, spouse, parent, worker, leader, etc.
Personal Reflection: Read each Scripture below and write what the message says regarding your calling and/or purpose for being.
1. We are called to be in relationship with God and to seek his Kingdom first.
2. God has a plan for our lives.
“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might…” Ecclesiastes 9:10, NIV
Are you being a blessing and living a productive life where you are today? Are you doing everything to the best of your ability? I know a lot of times we think, “As soon as I get a better job, then I´ll start working hard.” “As soon as I get over this sickness, then I´ll cheer up, then I´ll have a better attitude.” Or “As soon as my significant other changes, I´ll start working harder at my relationship.”
But really, God says here that he wants us to do everything with all of our might, no matter what the circumstances are. He wants us to become more productive today! I believe he wants us to have a good attitude and do the right thing even when the wrong thing is happening to us.
See, we have to be faithful in the wilderness if we´re ever going to make it into our Promised Land. Remember, God is keeping the records. If you´ll keep doing the right thing with all your might, in spite of your situation and circumstances, then you are sowing a seed for God to bring you up higher and also open the way for Him to bless you real good.
Comfort me with Your love O God
Wrap me up in Your strong embrace
Shelter me from the storm O Lord
Envelop me in Your tender care
By day I pour out my heartbreak to You
By night I give you my racing thoughts
In You I take refuge
In You I will not be afraid
For you hold me strong, You hold me safe
Calm my fearful heart O God
Still my anxious mind O Lord
For all my life is found in You
All my being is given to You
All my hope begins in You
(Psalm 23:2-3) He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
As long as we follow His lead, we can’t go wrong. Let us remember, He knows our destiny; He knows the best route and all the ups and downs that may occur during this journey. All we have to do is follow His lead. Our Shepherd is our Protector. We must surrender our full trust to Him, for with Him we are strengthened when He affords us peace in our rest and nourishment in His word.
Whatever you do don’t stop following Jesus!!
Pray this prayer with me:
Precious Lord Jesus, I love you.
In your love, you have taught me to read your word and to eat of its fruit.
In your love, you have taught me to listen to your voice and to follow your guiding hand.
In your love, you have taught me to speak wisely with love and kindness.
In your love, you have taught me to live in faithfulness no matter the cost.
In your love, you have taught me the way of the unfaithful is a hard and terrible road.
In your love, you have taught me to be prudent and act out of wisdom and knowledge.
In your love, you have taught me no matter what may happen to me in this life you are with me now and you will be with me in the age to come.
In your love, you have taught me to be good and kind others.
In your love, you have taught me to give thought to all matters.
In your love, you have taught me to be kind to my neighbor.
In your love, you have taught me to be kind to the needy.
In your love, you have taught me to plan what is good so I will find love and faithfulness.
In your love, you have taught me to work hard so I will profit and avoid poverty.
In your love, you have taught me to put away my foolish pride.
All these things I humbly pray in the name of my most Blessed Lord Jesus Christ, my Mighty God, and my Ever-present Holy Spirit upon whom I can rely. Amen!!

Following His PATH…OnPurpose!
Revelation 12:2 – She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth.
God has ordered my steps [Destiny] but I get to decide my stride [How long it will take to get there].
Labor and Delivery units have rules and regulations – there is no room for onlookers, nay-sayers or dream killers. Who are you taking with you in the delivery room…Only one person can go? It needs to be someone who had been in there before…a “coach”! Someone that had successfully came out of the birthing process with knowledge and understanding and could aid in the time of travailing. Someone who knows first hand what was about to happen.
It hurts to win! Until you have experienced it [Winning] you will not understand that painful process. Success or Winning is INTENTIONAL, it gives at the level that you give, it’s in accordance with your ability, it requires TRANSFORMATION of self, change is absolutely necessary to get to the next level and change can be very painful.
What are you about to birth? Do you have a due date in mind? Have you decided to become loyal to your future and abandon your past? Who is defining who you are today? What is next for you?
As you expand your territory – EXPECT demons – the PAIN will “feel” like it is going to kill you…it wont! There will be storms, take an unbrella. There will be walls, learn to scale them. There will be barriers, speak to them and demand they MOVE! There is a POINT to the PAIN – FOCUS on the POINT [Destiny] and not the PAIN! At the end of the day, you wont remember the PAIN because you will have a 7 lb. 6 oz. PLAN in your arms. It will be just for you…to nurture, develop and love – it will grow into Jeremiah 29:11 ~ For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you HOPE and a FUTURE.
Have an expectation greater that “THAT” – Dream BIGGER! Expect GREATER! Get INTENTIONAL! TRAVAIL…and get ready to PUSH!
Lord and Savior – I kneel in prayer in my heart. You are precious to me and I adore you.
Words cannot express my gratitude for your sacrifice for me on the Cross.
During the coming days I will need your help to live each day because I am in great pain.
During the coming days I shall PUSH ahead as I let you lead me and guide me in spite of the hurt I feel. During the coming days may all things be made new through you as I seek ways to live in spite of the pain assaulting me every hour.
In your presence, I find a reason to live no matter how much pain I feel.
In your kingdom on earth, I shall carry on the work you have begun in me. Inspire in me an open heart and give me a mind to glorify your name in every adversity. These things I pray in Jesus’ name, AMEN!!
