Love is not selfish!

Haha God you got jokes calling me out in my morning reading. I see how you doing me.  Trying to get me all right and stuff. Go on then. Reveal.

Love is not selfish

Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor. —Romans 12: 10

Selfishness and love are in constant opposition to one another. While love asks us to deny ourselves for the sake of someone else, selfishness compels us to focus on ourselves at their expense. Selfishness is like a disease that suffocates our capacity to love. When we choose self-centeredness, we become higher maintenance—more needy, overly sensitive, demanding. And then when we don’t get our way, we judge others harshly while being blind to our own faults.
Moodiness and complaining are selfishness in disguise. Laziness and irresponsibility are other masks it wears. Boasting and bragging. Being easily angered. Talking too much. Never listening. The list goes on and on. Even generous actions can be selfish if the motive is to gain bragging rights or receive a reward.
The bottom line is this: you either make decisions out of love for others or love for yourself.

Circle of Friends

1 Corinthians 15:33 ~ Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”

Your relationships will either make you or break you. You will soar in some and spiral in others! Spoken yesterday by Pastor Charles.

Minor setbacks can be devastating if you are surrounded by the wrong people where the things meant to destroy you can strengthen and mold you if you are supported and guided by the right people. photogrid_1470058224841.jpg
This is true for relationships with family, the friends you keep and the mates we choose. Especially the mates we choose…boy someone there can bring you way down doing out of character madness, or way up helping you see a better way to view circumstances, act and be! Choose your circle of influence well. If you want to be better and do better choose those that will challenge that in you and want that for you. Stop settling,  be a person that uplifts and desires to be surrounded by others that love healthily! Serious tho, CHECK your circles!

Sing this song with me:  We were made to love and be loved
But the price this world demands will cost you far too much
I spent so many lonely years just trying to fit in
Now I’ve found a place in this circle of friends
In a circle of friends we have one Father
In a circle of friends we share this prayer
That every orphaned soul will know
And all will enter in
To the shelter of this circle of friends
If you weep, I will weep with you
If you sing for joy the rest of us will lift our voices too
But no matter what you feel inside there’s no need to pretend
That’s the way it is in this circle of friends
In a circle of friends
We have one father
In a circle of friends we share this prayer
That we’ll gather together no matter how the highway bends
I will not lose this circle of friends
Among the nations, tribes and tongues we have sisters and brothers
And when we meet in heaven we will recognize each other
With joy so deep and love so sweet
Oh we’ll celebrate these friends
And a life that never ends
In a prayer
That will not be long before
All will enter in
To the shelter of this circle of friends
That it will not be long before
All will enter in
To the shelter of this circle of friends

My Reflection…

James 1:23-25 ~ For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.

God is showing me so much of where I need to be better. The reflection is sometimes ugly on the surface but He’s revealing to me the beauty and grace He has reserved just for me. A new thing,  a new perspective, a new peace and understanding engrossed in the ills of the world and my surroundings, He’s tapping in and saying look at yourself girl,  all that’s happening around you,  YOU mirrorneed to change the things that aren’t of me before you can expand beyond your immediate circumstances. It’s not often a comfortable place but it’s a necessary one to impact change and open the door to the promises we sabatoge. I’m starting now, battered but empowered. For His glory. He is able. Declaring victory and peace in my life. It’s already done. Love and blessings!

Prayer:  Most Precious Lord Jesus, Gentle And Wonderful God, Truly Awesome And Ever-present Holy Spirit, Precious Lord Jesus, I love you. I praise your name even when the chaos of my life means I don’t know whether I am coming or going. My life is a harried and pressure-filled mess right now. Help me live more at peace with myself, with others, and most of all, with you. When I start to lose hope amidst the pressures of my life, stop me for a moment and call upon my heart to look up to you. When I start to lose hope amidst the pressures of my life, stop me for a moment and call upon my heart to listen to your sweet voice telling me how much you love me. When my harried life afflicts me hour after hour, remind me how your peace is just a prayer away. All these things I humbly pray in the name of my most Blessed Lord Jesus Christ, my Mighty God, and my Ever-present Holy Spirit upon whom I can rely. Amen!

Cost vs. Price

Matthew 20:8 ~ “When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, ‘Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last ones hired and going on to the first.’CostVsPrice2

Do you ever witness some pretty crappy people receiving some pretty hefty blessings and think: “man that just doesn’t seem right?”  I know I do and I see some horrible things happen to the greatest people ever. I don’t have a clear answer but I know counting someone else’s blessings and judging their worthiness to receive them is not our job. Whenever we begin to compare ourselves to others we will always fall short. That thinking is a distraction and is often comparing apples to oranges. Find the greatness in your own fruit. Our walks, experiences… there is promise and purpose and you may just miss yours caught up in what the Joneses got going on. And don’t forget some people are selling their souls for their gain, is it worth your soul? ‪#‎truestory‬

In simple terms…Price is the amount a customer pays for that product or service. The difference between the price that is paid and the cost that is incurred is the profit the business makes when the item sells. If a customer pays $10 for an item that costs the company $5 to produce and sell, the company makes a $5 profit (none of my business.)

Matthew 16:26 (ASV) For what shall a man be profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and forfeit his life? or what shall a man give in exchange for his life?

Think about it…Pray this prayer with me:

Precious Father, Lord Jesus, Wonderful Holy Spirit,
May all my labors for you be done to bless your name and glorify you before the world.
May my times of poverty be embraced as a time for you to teach me about giving thanks and humility during in my poverty.  May my times of plenty be embraced by me as a time for you to teach me about giving thanks and humility in my plenty.  In the name of God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit who lives within me and touches me,
